Discharge scheduled for Monday

I'm home today with Gia and Ray is back with Mya for the weekend. It was great to be able to spend two whole days with my oldest child. I've been missing that sweet laugh and smile of hers! Yesterday, the child life specialist came by because it was "Dec my Room" time for Mya. If a child will be in the hospital for an extended period of time, they are able to decorate their hospital room. They are given a checklist to fill out and they list their favorite tv shows, cartoons, colors, activities, and the like. Then, the specialists go out to Target or Walmart and buy stuff to decorate their hospital room. They spent about $400 on beddings, rugs, sheets, wall decorations, pillows, games, toys, you name it! Since Mya will be coming home this Monday (if nothing unusual happens), we decided to take all the stuff home to decorate her room. I'll take a few pictures and get them posted for everyone to see all her great loot!

Mya continues to improve. Right now, she is on anti-nausea medication, one anti-biotic, and morphine (but being weaned off that). I think that's it. We are in the process of slowing increasing her liquid formula through her G-tube. We are taking it slow because her stomach needs to get used to having something in it again. (For most of her stay, she has been getting IV nutrition). As it stands right now, doctors say that she will be ready to come home for Monday.

I asked Ray to try to work on getting her out of bed so we can keep strengthening her leg muscles. She has been in bed constantly for a few weeks, so they need a little work. However, Mya's desire to move around has been a big plus in this department. She has such determination, it is quite remarkable.

Tomorrow is the day for Mya's Ultimate Dance Party hosted by Uno's and the Salon @ 903. It's from 1 - 6 pm. If you get the chance, please stop by. I'll be there with Gia from about 1:30 until whenever Gia has had enough. Hope to see you there!
