Done with chemo, on to transplant

posted Jun 11, 2013, 10:39 AM by FightingFor Mya

As of last night at midnight, Mya is all done with chemotherpy! It's been a long journey with this type of treatment. It was eye opening to see what a person needs to go through with this type of treatment. If I had to do it I don't think I would have done half as well as my daughter did. She has had such courage to take this head-on and with such little fuss. We are very thankful for her determination and spirit.

Mya will get two more baths today, one at noontime, then 6pm. She will be all done after that. On to the transplant of her stem cells. This is scheduled to be completed this Thursday.

I will be going to the hospital to relieve Ray on Thursday. Ray will go to work on Friday. After work on Friday, he will come back to the hospital to relieve me (& Gia!) so we can go back home. Ray has said that it has been tough being in the hospital for so long. Everyone is hopeful that with Mya getting her own stem cells in the transplant, it will help her body "reboot" much faster.

It is hard to say. Her levels are at zero. Ray said that she is very quiet, huddles in the bed,and takes naps during the day. It will be difficult to see her like that, just because that isn't how she usually behaves. She is a very active child and has an abundance of energy normally.

Will let everyone know how it goes when I get back.
