Early in, early out...

We got up at 4:30am, so we could get out of the house @ 5:30am. The roads were a little slippery, so we were a few minutes late. Didn't really matter because they didn't take Mya in until 9:30am, an hour late. I went in with Mya to the operating room. She started crying and said she was scared. I held her on my lap on a stool, while the staff held a gas mask over her little face. She kept crying, reaching out to stroke my face as she drifted off to sleep. The staff took her from me and got her on the table. I cried a little walking back to the room where Ray was waiting. Her little hand touching my face pulled on my heart so much....

Ray & I got something to eat, then made our way to the 3rd floor to wait for the procedure to be completed. Around 10:45am, they said she was being brought to recovery and they took us back to her. Everything went smoothly, the line is fine. We gave her time to wake up, then we bundled her up, and put her in the car. The ride back went pretty quickly, with very little traffic.

When we got home, Mya asked for milk & cereal. Throughout the rest of he afternoon, she sat on the couch watching tv, playing with gifts people brought by the house, and playing with Uncle Rusty. Her activity this afternoon has been the best we've seen in a week. It just seems like every day she is gaining back the ground she had lost. We don't really understand it, but we will take it!!!

Everyone will go to bed early tonight. We start radiation tomorrow. Mya should be a little tired from it, but that should be it for effects. There could be some irritation at the site being radiated as well. All things we can handle. Let's hope we don't have any surprises....
