Making progress...

Yesterday, Ray and Mya went to Dana Farber for our weekly check-up. Her weight is at 13.8 kilos (30.35 pounds), which is better than last week, so the nutritionist said we could hold off on the IV food and to continue to encourage her with any and all foods. She also mentioned that we can try some Carnation powder in her glass of milk to add in some extra calories as well.

The stem cell team continues to be impressed with Mya's recovery. All of her blood panel results are strong and continue to rise. The only lagging part is her platelet count (she is at 51-52K). But, they say that platelets are the last part to come back to a normal level, so they are quite comfortable with where she is currently at. They said we don't have to go back to see them until Aug 1st! :)

We are still on track to have Mya's MRI this coming Wednesday, July 24th. Appointment is at 8:45am. We are hoping that this one will show that ALL of the tumor/cancer has been destroyed/is gone. There are a few different scenarios. One - the tumor could be completely gone and there is just "space" where it was. Hopefully, if this happens we will hear the wonderful words "Mya is cancer free"! :) Two - the tumor could still be there but it is dead tissue. If this is the case, they will want to "watch" it to see if anything changes. Or Three - the tumor/cancer is still there and we have to do a different type of treatment for it. That could be an operation to remove the remaining or even targeted radiation.

We will get the results on Wednesday and will let everyone know how it went. Our fingers, toes, and everything else is crossed hoping that we will get the best result possible, which is choice #1. Mya has been so lucky with her treatment so far, we just need to have that luck hold out a little longer...
