Radiation done, what's next?

posted Aug 4, 2014, 4:41 PM by FightingFor Mya

Mya will be done with her radiation sessions tomorrow. She only had to do 14 sessions. Hard to believe, but she made it through the whole series without a hospital stay. I fully expected us to end up there; but shame on me for doubting Mya's strength of spirit! Her ANC count as of today was around 2,400. :):):):)

We will do the final session tomorrow and will meet with the oncology team on Thursday at Dana Farber. We are going to ask to move up her next MRI date. Right now, it's set for Oct. 1st, but we would like it to be around the second week of September. We don't want to wait that long to see if the radiation sessions worked. We will see what they say.

This past weekend was great. We went to Chuck E cheese on Saturday and had a great time. On Sunday, we visited with family and had some yummy Chinese food! Mya really likes the low main noodles. :)

We are going to start getting ready for Mya to go to school in September. I will be contacting the school to see what needs to be done and we will also be in contact with the school nurse, to brief her on Mya's current status. I'm really excited that she will be going, but also pretty nervous. I can't believe she is old enough to go to school!!?!??!!! I'm going to be the biggest mess ever when she climbs onto that bus.....

Can't believe it's August already. The next few weeks are going to fly by, I just know it. Hoping for one last final blast of summer heat! :):) Will let everyone know what happens later this week.
