Update on MRI

posted Nov 29, 2013, 12:33 PM by FightingFor Mya

Mya had her MRI done. The scan shows that there is a tumor at the base of her head, like they thought. Dr. Manley wants to do radiation on it to try to get more time. Because of where this tumor is, Dr. Manley feels radiation is the way to go with this particular tumor. He hopes to shrink/ kill this one. He says there shouldn't be any lasting effects from doing this blast. He has reached out to radiology & they should be calling us either this Monday or Tuesday to discuss and set it up. The sessions will be every day, thirty of them, over 6 weeks. We can go home after each session. Dr. Manley thinks we will be able to start them the second week of December.

Once we talk to radiology, Ray & I will have a better understanding of what needs to happen, the effects it will have on Mya, & what she will be capable of during & after the sessions. This will give us time to let the other medications work on the other tumors in her head & spine.

So, right now we are getting our steroid & morphine prescriptions. Then we will be discharged!! We hope to be home before 6 pm.

Looking forward to our own beds tonight, and seeing more family too! Can't get enough of that!
Will post again once we talk with the radiologist!
